Come and discover the world-famous vineyards of the Médoc. We are privileged to be at the heart of an extraordinary terroir that produces wines whose reputation is second to none. As wine enthusiasts, we can advise you on your choice of tours and purchases. We also organise introductory wine-tasting sessions every week at the Soulac-sur-Mer campsite, the perfect opportunity to test your palate.

Between the estuary and the ocean, you’ll find some hidden gems. From Grand Cru Classé 1855 to Cru Bourgeois, ranging from renowned grand châteaux to small family-run estates, there are over a thousand wine estates in the Médoc, spanning 16,000 hectares and 8 appellations.

In Gironde, we have numerous lakes, ponds and marshes. These are ideal spots for exploring the natural world, going for walks or enjoying water sports.

The must-see attractions:

• Lake Carcans-Hourtin is the largest natural lake in France. Its 2 km-long developed beach and 6,000 ha surface area are home to secluded beaches tucked away in the coves. It owes its abundance of protected species to the dunes and forests that border it.
• The Étang de Cousseau National Nature Reserve is home to a variety of landscapes that have been successfully preserved. A lovely walk of 7 km awaits you. Wooded dunes, wetland areas and vast marshes will delight your eyes. If you’re there in the height of summer, you’ll spot the ‘sea cows’ that inhabit these marshes.
• The Vire Vieille and Batejin Managed Biological Reserve is situated south-east of Lacanau Lake, which is 45 km from us in Soulac-sur-Mer.
• The marshes of the Northern Médoc, within a 15 km radius of Soulac-sur-Mer, also offer a chance to escape to a different world. You’ll find yourself immersed in a different atmosphere, bathed in a lunar landscape, completely unlike the seaside: the Perge marsh in Vendays-Montalivet, the Conseiller and Logit marshes in Verdon-sur-Mer, the Baluard marsh in Talais, and the Gua Marsh trail in Talais.

The Médoc has recently been dubbed the Bordeaux California, a new nickname that suits it perfectly, as our beautiful destination is reminiscent of the American coast. Why? Because here, you can switch up the scenery whenever you like, choosing between lakes, marshes, forests, vineyards and beaches.

The entire Médoc coast, from Lacanau to Le Verdon, is a surfing destination where all surfing enthusiasts will enjoy a visit, whatever their level.

To continue on the theme of surf culture, the Waterman culture is very important along the entire Atlantic coast, particularly in the Médoc and here in Soulac-sur-Mer: paddleboarding, SUP, canoeing, surfing, prône, wakeboarding, skateboarding, kitesurfing and windsurfing. Here, if you love the ocean and sport, you try your hand at everything.

The Cordouan lighthouse is the oldest of France’s lighthouses still in operation. It was listed as a historic monument as early as 1862, at the same time as Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Its grand architecture is the result of a long and turbulent history that has made Cordouan the “Versailles of the sea”. It is a lighthouse unlike any other in the world, and a visit is sure to fill you with wonder.
