Must-see attractions in Gironde

When you arrive at our little corner of paradise, the Camping des Pins, our staff will be on hand to guide you and let you know what you absolutely mustn’t miss before you leave.

Our cycle routes and mountain bike trails

If you’d like, you can get around entirely by bike and leave your car behind during your stay. Our cycle path runs from the Verdon to Lacanau if you fancy a ride lasting a day or several days, whether as a couple, with family or with friends. From here to the campsite, it takes just 5 minutes to reach the cycle path.

If we focus on Soulac, you can reach the village in 20 minutes from the Camping des Pins Soulac, or get to the first surf spot and the first beach for your daily siesta in just 5 minutes.

All around us, the whole forest is signposted for challenging mountain bike rides; the trails are all different and cater for all levels.

The little train at Soulac

The tourist train is a 7km ride that runs along the coast. It’s a great way to enjoy a pleasant time.

You can get on it on foot or by bike. The starting point is north of Soulac, at Place des Arros, a 10-minute drive from our place.

Tour of the blockhouses

You’ll find Blockhaus all along our beaches; they’re like historic buildings dotted along the coast. Almost all of them have served as canvases for artists.

In Soulac-sur-Mer, they’re covered in graffiti and feature works by visiting or local artists, such as Yann Müller, who runs the Art Gallery ‘la plateforM’ in Soulac.

Arros Beach

Arros Beach is not to be missed! You can have a picnic there at the edge of the forest or even on the roof of a blockhouse to enjoy the magnificent view of the ocean, the stretch of fine sand, the Grave headland and the Cordouan lighthouse.

If you decide to head a little further to your right, you’ll find Cantines Beach with magnificent natural pools where you can swim safely with your children, whilst the more cautious members of your group can ride the waves by bodysurfing.

Médoc oysters and prawns

To meet the people behind these local delicacies, you need to head out into the marshes where they farm them, or – in some cases – to the market in Soulac, where you’ll find Hugo Bertigny every morning; he’s a producer from the Neyran aquaculture farm. Whether you’re a keen enthusiast or simply a lover of wildlife and flora, get in touch with the Curuma Association for guided tours in the heart of nature.

The cuisine of the Médoc and Soulac

As well as eating oysters and prawns, meat lovers can try Pauillac lamb or our famous Médoc delicacies.

You can’t leave Soulac without having tasted the best pastries in Soulac – Cécile and Benoît Vallat run the Royaume de la gourmandise. Head into the village to try the strawberry tart – you’ll thank us for it. Judici, the Soulac ice-cream parlour, which makes its ice cream by hand, is a favourite spot from childhood for any self-respecting resident of Soulac, the Médoc, Bordeaux or holidaymaker.

Yoga on the beach or in the forest

Breathe, unwind, take a deep breath of fresh air – you’ll find yoga classes in Soulac-sur-Mer for both experienced practitioners and beginners, in the forest, on the beach or here at the Camping des Pins. Discover Yoga sur mer and Ulm Surf School.

Art in the Médoc

Many artists have left the city to settle in the Médoc, in Soulac or the surrounding area, in order to make a living from their passion and express themselves freely in the heart of nature.

You’ll find Heidi Moriot with her Association Sea (whose sketches feature in many works about Soulac), Sébastien Rideau with Ras d’eau (a sculpture and lighting studio), Alben with Alben Factory (an outstanding collector)… Yann Müller, who can be found in the Blockhaus section, as well as Greg Bronard, a talented photographer from the Médoc, Vincent Richeux and many others. You’ll be fascinated and surprised by the calibre of our Médoc artists.
